​When my brother and I recently decided to sell the house in which we grew up, as well as our maternal grandmother's house—both of which we inherited a few years ago—we were in need of a local real-estate agent, as we both live far out of the area (Compton). A lifelong friend recommended Karen Perez at the Long Beach office of First Team Real Estate. Although we never met her in person, as I live in northern California and my brother lives abroad, we could not have been happier with her (as well as her team of escrow agent Sybil Mijares and transaction coordinator Tuyet Le) efforts. Karen was in contact with us every step of the way, leading us through the mountains of paperwork required these days for a property transaction. She understood and supported our decision to sell at a reasonable price to the tenants of each house. And most especially, she went far above and beyond the call of duty to shepherd us and the buyers through a sticky situation involving an unreliable early co-signer and his less-than-stellar agent and lender. Far more than a business person, Karen is so warm, personable, and genuine. She is just the sort of agent you'd wish for when going through one of the most momentous transactions you'll ever undertake. It may sound a cliché, but she really does operate in the old-fashioned way: no advertising, relying on word-of-mouth recommendations, and treating you like a valued friend...and we feel the same about her!
